What is American Express?
American Express is a highly popular payment scheme with nearly two million users in France. It is a payment scheme similar to CB, Visa, and Mastercard but with a different payment structure. It is a card that is neither a debit card nor a credit card and includes a 15-digit number, an expiration date, and a 4-digit CVV.
Characteristics of Payments via American Express
- The final customer is not immediately debited after payment but at the end of the month.
- American Express offers a 3DS called SafeKey, triggered by American Express based on payment characteristics and information they have about the cardholder.
- Refunds (full or partial) are possible.
- Fund availability is instantly verified during payment.
How Does American Express Work with PayPlug?
On your checkout page, the option is distinct from the traditional payment methods like CB, Visa, MasterCard. After selecting American Express, your customer is redirected to a PayPlug payment form specific to American Express. The customer provides their payment information as in a traditional payment.
