1. What is Scalapay?
- Payment in 3 instalments: no fee for the customer.

Payment in 4 instalments: 1.5% fee for the customer.
*Payment in 4 instalments is not available in Belgium. - Amounts: eligible from €5 up to €2,000.
- Guarantee: payment is 100% guaranteed. You receive the funds within the same timeframe as your other payment methods.
- Accepted cards: Visa and Mastercard (excluding prepaid, Electron, Maestro and Amex cards).
2. What does it cost?
Pricing depends on your customer's country. Transaction fees start from:

3. What is the customer journey?
The journey is almost instant (under 2 minutes):
- Selection: the customer chooses Scalapay at checkout.
- Verification: redirection to Scalapay, verification by SMS.
- Confirmation: the payment plan is approved immediately.
- Status: the order moves to "Accepted" in your Payplug portal.
4. Cancellations and refunds
- Timeframe: full or partial refunds through your Payplug portal for up to 6 months after the purchase.
- After 6 months: the refund must be issued by you directly (bank transfer).
- Effect: Scalapay automatically adjusts the customer's remaining instalments.
5. Which business sectors are eligible for Scalapay?
Scalapay is intended for sales to private individuals (B2C). Here are the main categories concerned.

- Fashion, clothing, footwear, leather goods and accessories
- Jewellery and watches
- Home, furniture, decoration, linen and floor or wall coverings
- Garden, flowers and plants
- Sport, leisure, toys, bicycles and craft supplies
- Books, stationery, culture and musical instruments
- Beauty, cosmetics, perfume and health and beauty products
- Food, groceries and fast food
- Pet supplies
- Health, optical and medical equipment
- Car and motorbike parts and accessories, servicing and repair
- Department stores and general retailers
- Art, antiques and galleries
- Wines, beers and spirits (retail)
- Services for individuals: veterinary, beauty treatments, education and training, childcare, insurance
⏳ Sectors eligible subject to conditions
Some sectors are accepted but subject to specific conditions (dedicated pricing or prior approval by Scalapay):
- Electronics, IT, home appliances and photography
- Hardware, tools, heating and plumbing (equipment)
- Digital goods and content (games, apps, media)
- Marketplaces
- Travel and transport (passenger transport, hotels, vehicle hire, etc.): Scalapay approval and submission of travel data are mandatory
🚫 Ineligible sectors
Scalapay is not available for the following sectors:
- Vehicle sales: cars, motorbikes, boats, motorhomes
- Fuel, petrol stations and petroleum products
- Construction, building work and building materials
- Services to businesses (B2B): legal, accounting, consulting, advertising, architecture, software development
- Real estate (rental, management) and logistics or freight transport
- Financial services, currency exchange, money transfer and pawnbroking
- Telecommunications
- Gambling, betting and casinos
- Weapons and ammunition
- Tobacco, dating sites and adult services
- Sit-down restaurants, bars and licensed premises
- Political, religious, charitable and non-profit organisations
- Direct marketing, telemarketing and door-to-door sales
Good to know: even if your sector is not listed as ineligible, your business may still not qualify for Scalapay for risk management reasons.
6. How do you get the feature?
To enable Scalapay, you must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Customer type: your sales must be made exclusively to private individuals (B2C).
- Delivery: must be completed within 10 days maximum.
- Excluded sectors: services (B2B, real estate, logistics), regulated sectors (weapons, gambling, crypto, politics), dating, bars and petrol stations.
Activation steps:
1 - Submit your request:
- If you have a dedicated Account Manager, contact them directly to let them know what you need.
- If you do not have a dedicated adviser, simply submit your request using this form: Scalapay activation request.
2 - Going live: once our team has enabled the feature on your account, you can activate it in one click from your CMS back office. Follow the steps for your platform in the Installing and enabling Scalapay in your CMS section.
7. Installing and enabling Scalapay in your CMS
Once the feature has been enabled by our team, all that remains is to activate it in your store's back office. First check that your PayPlug module is up to date (see Compatibility and modules).

9. Wording to add to your terms and conditions
To explain clearly to your customers how split payments work, you can add the following text to your terms and conditions:
Payment in instalments is provided by Scalapay. If you choose this payment method, you accept the Scalapay Terms of Service applicable according to the seller's country of origin. For French sellers, the applicable terms are available here: https://www.scalapay.com/fr/conditions-de-service
Payment in 3 instalments is granted by the seller or by Scalapay IP, a payment institution supervised by the Bank of Italy. If an instalment is not paid, fees may be applied in accordance with the Terms of Service.
